INclude addresses the reality of exclusion, poverty, institutionalization and violence. Our goal is to transform how societies see people with intellectual and/or psychosocial disabilities by investing in social and systemic change through a process of participatory grant making and technical support.
Why is Change Vital?
Around the world, millions of people with intellectual and/or psychosocial disabilities experience prejudice, systemic exclusion, institutionalization, violence, poverty, and unemployment. This injustice is a waste of human potential and is unjustifiable.

MAKE CHANGE

Strategy for Investing

Our investment strategy is designed to leverage local resources that can challenge the status quo, lead to sustainable change and demonstrate what is possible.

INclude’s work is rooted in more than 20 years of experience through the Mental Health Initiative of the Open Society Foundations. We have learned that there are factors that either enable change, or inhibit it.
INclude believes that sustainable social inclusion can happen when governments work together with local and regional organizations. INclude will continue to grow and strengthen community-based structures for intellectual disability and mental health support using three tools: advocacy, technical assistance, and participatory grant making. The communities in which INclude operates are very distinct, but the common challenge is to push for solutions where

money is in short supply, and where exclusion and discrimination are the norm.INclude and its in-country partners aim to be part of a global social change movement. The voices of people with intellectual and/or psychosocial disabilities need to be heard and valued in decision-making processes. Local programming and global advocacy strengthen each other, with local results providing hands-on examples for reform.
INclude will use technical assistance to ensure that local partners have the necessary skills and knowledge needed to implement and develop their work.
To fulfill its mission, INclude considers targeted participatory grant making an important tool to complement its advocacy and technical assistance work.
